Sir Tom Jones has (jokingly) described the talent on The Voice 2015 as "s**t" in bit of an embarrassing faux-pas.
The legendary singer couldn't seem to think of any other word to describe this year's contestants when quizzed about the fourth series at the show's press launch in London today.
Asked about the hopefuls on the show this year, Will.i.am began to reply: "The talent this year is…"
But then Sir Tom interrupted to joke: "S**t" to the slightly uncomfortable laughter from his fellow coaches and the show's hosts Emma Willis and Marvin Humes.
Later defending his ill-advised entry into stand up comedy, Sir Tom explained: "It was a joke. I said it as a joke, and then later on to try and make out that it was a joke – which it was – I said, 'I hope it wasn't a Freudian slip'. Which was like a joke on top of a joke. But then I saw people writing it down and thought, 'Oh God…'"
Ricky Wilson, back on the show for his second year, was quick to defend the Welsh singer and added:"You would never say that if you weren't joking about it! He'd never say it."
The Voice UK 2015 kicks off with its first round of blind auditions this Saturday night on BBC One from 7PM.
