The winner of The Apprentice 2014 ha been revealed in tonight's final results as Lord Sugar chose his new business apart.
After 12 intense weeks of trying tasks and boardroom battles, 2it was 5 year old Sales Manager Mark Wright who beat his rival 19 candidates to win the prize o £250,000 investment.
In a too close to call final, Mark went head-to-head with 25 year old Business Owner Bianca Miller in the final task as they launched their respective businesses to a room of industry experts, Lord Sugar and his advisors Nick Hewer and Karren Brady. But in the final boardroom, it was Mark that triumphed with his proposal for a digital marketing agency with a personal touch.
In a nail-biting boardroom in which Lord Sugar grappled with the final decision, Karren Brady championed Mark before Lord Sugar made up his mind, saying: "What you're getting with Mark is an exceptional individual and his USP is himself.
"I have seen him manage a team really well, he will get the best out of the people that work with him; all he needs to start his business, Alan, is a telephone. He knows his industry inside and out and he won't need a lot of hand holding."
As it came to the time for Lord Sugar to make his decision, he admitted that he was struggling with a tough choice: "Nick has pointed out that I am a product man, I believe there's one thing you've got here, Bianca, is a good idea. The problem, as far as I am concerned, is bringing the concept to the market. I will have to hold your hand one hundred percent through the manufacturing process…"
"Mark, you're in what I call a 'new world' business. The real difficulty is whether you can do it. I mean, I know that if I decided to put my mind to this, together with Bianca, we could do this."
"That's my dilemma … I've got to roll the dice now and decide where my money's going."
"It's a very difficult one, the instinct in me is the product; the devil in me says the service industry."
After a few tense moments, Lord Sugar reveals the winner, saying: "I'm going to take a big gamble. Mark, you are going to be my business partner. Congratulations, off you go, I'll see you soon."
After learning of his win Mark said: "To be running a business now with Lord Sugar, I'm just stoked and quite emotional, to be honest with you. When I left Armidale in Australia, a small country town, to come and try and find bigger things in London, this was unimaginable and I've worked so hard. To be sat here is life-changing, and it's the best thing that ever happened to me."
Mark and Lord Sugar will now be taking a well-deserved rest over the festive period, before meeting to discuss their venture in the New Year.
The Apprentice returns for an eleventh series next year on BBC One.
