The Xtra Factor is set to air live every week this year, according to reports.
The ITV2 spin-off show has still yet to confirm any presenters despite judges and main show host Dermot O'Leary beginning filming of the auditions.
According to Digital Spy, show bosses are considering airing the series live every week, including when the main show is in its pre-recorded stages such as the auditions and bootcamp.
A spokesperson for ITV declined to comment on the reports as presenters for this year's series remain unannounced.
Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom fronted the Xtra Factor last year but both have said they've no idea if they'll be back.
Last month Rylan Clark-Neal was rumoured to be in talks to front the ITV2 spin-off show alongside Laura Whitmore, who recently quit I'm A Celebrity's spin-off show after five years.
"Bosses really want to sign Rylan," a source told Now magazine r ecently. "He's a seasoned professional, funny, and could make the show come alive."
However other reports suggest that Rylan may simply take over from Melvin with Rochelle staying put.
The move to a 'live' format would allow Rylan to host with work on Big Brother preventing him filming as the auditions take place over the summer.
However a number of other names have also been rumoured, including Westlife's Nicky Byrne and radio DJ Roman Kemp.
Meanwhile, former Union J star George Shelley has apparently been in talks to help 'keep the younger viewers' watching the show following the announcement of an "ageing" judging line up.
Rumour has it that George would be a 'social media correspondent' on the ITV2 spin-off.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "George was a huge hit when he was in the jungle and he has proved to be a capable host on Capital FM.
"With an ageing judging panel this year [Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, Ni cole Scherzinger], producers hope George can keep younger viewers engaged."
The Xtra Factor will begin on ITV2 later this year.
