The revamped Big Brother looks to have got viewers hooked after one episode.

The new series launched on Tuesday night to the lowest viewing figures ever with an average audience of 1.39 million viewers (excluding Channel 5+1)

However almost every single one of those were back at 10PM last night for the first highlights show.

1.36 million watched Day 1 in the house, a pretty much negligible drop.

Although it wasn't actually C5's highest show of the night - The Hotel Inspector had 1.39 million at 9PM - the number is UP on last year's series' equivalent episode figure of 1.1 million and represents the smallest drop from launch night to first highlights in BBUK history.

However ITV2's Love Island is getting stronger and the gap between the two is closing.

More than 1 million viewers tuned in to last night's highlights from the villa at 9PM as the complimenting scheduling boosted both sows.

It was Love Island's highest rating of all time since returning to screens with a new format on ITV2 last year.

Unfortunately, TV schedulers seem to go out of their way to make shows clash and tonight Love Island and Big brother will be going head to head in the 9PM hour.
