Kym Marsh wants to distance herself from daughter Emilie Cunliffe on The Voice UK 2015.
Singer Emilie will be seen on this Saturday night's first blind audition show after failing on Britain's Got Talent last year.
And mum Kym – star one of the first ever reality shows Popsatrs and its manufactured group Hear'Say – insists it's all been Emilie's doing.
Kym told The Sun of 16-year-old Emilie's latest attempt at stardom: "This had to be one hundred million per cent her choice.
"She couldn't be going into a show like this unless it was.
"If I forced her, it would just come falling down on top of me, but this is all she ever wanted to do."
Speaking to the newspaper this weekend, the Coronation Street actress continued: "Emilie doesn't like to mention me or my work. She has a different surname from mine too — she loves that.
"If people ever mention me to her she's like, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's my mum. Move on.' She's determined to do this by herself.
"And she will — she gets that from me."
But Kym did join her daughter in support at filming of the blind audition at Manchester last year, recalling: "I was so nervous all day. We were just on eggshells. I couldn't sleep the night before and I couldn't eat — and Emilie was nervous."
Emilie's audition airs this Saturday night on BBC One from 7PM.
To get through to the next round she'll need at least one of the four judges to press their buzzer to say they want him on their team.
