EastEnders' strong ratings continued into last night's show as the soap scored its best rating in almost two years for a Friday.
The latest episode saw the fallout from the New Year's Day crash and saw one character die after a dramatic car collision on the square.
Just over 8 million were tuned into all the twists and turns between 8PM and 8:30PM to make it the most watched show of the evening.
Over on ITV and Corrie's two episodes had 7.4 and 7.5 million viewers while Emmerdale had interested 6 million earlier in the evening.
Later on in the night and ITV enjoyed a win in the 9PM slot with the return of Benidorm scoring 5.8 million viewers, although this was down on last year's series' premiere rating of 6.6 million.
The Beeb aired the return of its drama The Musketeers which had 3.6 million for the start of its second series.
Meanwhile over on Channel 4 and the Big Fat Anniversary Quiz had 2.4 million viewers.
