Stats have shown just how the X Factor's runners up have outlasted the winners in the long run.
Analysis as shown how the show's finalists are achieving on average 200% more ticket demand for their most recent tour compared to the most recent tours of X Factor winners.
The data reveals that the vast majority of runners-up of the ITV talent show are also more likely to achieve longevity, with an average of 172% increase in ticket demand between their first and most recent tours. This is a stark contrast with the ticket demand of the winners, which drops by an average of 28% after their initial 'winner's tour'.
Amongst the biggest losers were Alexandra Burke and Leona Lewis, who's careers have both stalled rather dramatically in recent years.
However the likes of Olly Murs, One Direction and even Rebecca Ferguson have seen ticket sales rise.
The only two recent exceptions to the rule were four-piece girl band Little Mix and singer-songwriter Matt Cardle, for whom ticket demand remained constant between tours.
A spokesperson for Seatwave said: "Although there is a great deal of hype and anticipation before each winner is announced, contestants looking for a successful career shouldn't feel disheartened if they fail to take home the crown.
"Runners-up are shown to be more likely to gain long-term success, perhaps because there is less pressure in the months after the show's huge finale."
