Mel B is the most hands on mentor on The X Factor… and she really isn't scary!
The fiesty judge has proved to be a viewer favourite on this year's show, even if she has been rather harsh with pretty much all the acts at one point or another.
But her last contestant in the competition Andrea Faustini says: "She's not scary at all. I'm sorry, I love her.
"She looks after me, she's constantly in touch with me – on Skype, she texts me – she's very cool. Last week, I went to her house for celebrating Thanksgiving Day."
Those thoughts were echoed by show creative director Brian Friedman, who also praised Mel.
"Mel lets things happen, and then she just runs on set and starts trying to manoeuvre things around," he said. "She'll be in her dressing room getting ready for the show and she'll see a rehearsal up on the screen and she'll run out of her dressing room in her pyjamas with her hair in rollers and on to the set."
But Brain added of Simon Cowell: "I would have to say Simon's always hands on in his own way. He knows how to cut off the head of the dragon before it comes after him. He cuts things when he sees it on paper.
Simon's acts Fleur East and Ben Haenow revealed how they spoke to Simon only "through his team".
She said: "We'll constantly get messages at any time of the day, and he's always there at rehearsals giving us tips, but to be fair, he's a really good mentor because he lets us do what we want to do and then just guides us".
Ben added: "But if you ever want any advice from him you can always get in touch with him, so…"
The X Factor airs Saturday night on ITV.
