Lauren Platt has blamed The X Factor for breaking up her relationship.
The 17-year-old has been the focus of stories that linked her to fellow contestant Charlie George of Only The Young.
Lauren originally denied any relationship with the singer, but then it was revealed her boyfriend Liam Baker had dumped her.
Taking to Twitter in a now deleted tweet, Lauren had claimed that she and Liam were on a "break" but that it was nothing to do with the press stories.
However now Lauren has finally admitted that she and Charlie did get "close"… but still blamed The X Factor for the breakup with her boyfriend.
"Liam didn't sign up for X Factor — but he ended up being dragged along for the ride. And to do that to a person is hard," Lauren explained. "Since I moved into the house we have been completely away from each other, and then Charlie and I started to become closer and closer."
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Lauren added: "It's very rare to meet someone who is exactly like you, and it is scary how much we are the same."
Lauren told the tabloid: "Hopefully in the future, we'll get back together.
"But if we don't work out I won't have any regrets."
The X Factor 2014 continues tonight on ITV with the latest results, plus performances from last year's X Factor winner Sam Bailey, US X Factor finalists Fifth Harmony and Frozen star Idina Menzel.
