Mel B has explained why she sent home Lauren in tonight's X Factor UK 2014 results.
The Spice Girl had Cheryl giving her evils over the judges' desk after voting to ditch Lauren.
In the end, the teenager was saved from elimination over Stereo Kicks after the panel vote ended up tied and went to deadlock.
Mel said: "I think Lauren is great and it killed me to send her home, but those eight boys… there's something special about them.
"There's a reason they stayed in each week even if they were in the bottom two, they delivered each week. I had to follow my heart, even though I'm Cheryl's girl."
Groups' mentor Louis, who is now without any acts, said: "I really think it was a mistake. I'll miss them I think it's awful that they've gone, they had so much potential."
Cheryl added: "You look at Ella Henderson tonight, it's not the end of them, they're on the tour."
She said of Lauren being in the bottom two: "I'm absolutely gutted that it happened tonight but I'm very pleased she's through."
Simon had sent the vote to deadlock by deciding to send Stereo Kicks home and said: "In a sing off, it has to be based on the sing off. Undoubtedly she sang better."
